“Eat a live frog first thing in the morning and nothing worse will happen to you the rest of the day”… Mark Twain.
Eat That Frog
We’ve written this popular time management technique before but in these strange times of working from home it is pertinent to revisit the theory expounded by self-help guru Brian Tracy in his popular 2001 book ‘Eat That Frog! 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time’. Brian Tracy’s concept is that you should tackle the hardest and most important item on your to-do list first thing every morning.
‘If you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first!’ (Brian Tracy)
The first rule of frog eating is to get stuck into the task that you least want to do and then the others won’t seem so hard.
‘If you have to eat a live frog at all, it doesn’t pay to sit and look at it for very long.’ (Brian Tracy)
Don’t think about the task ahead of you for too long… it might just jump up and disappear and you will be left in an even more difficult situation, so eat that frog before you do anything else.
Time management is an important skill to master for boosting productivity in both your personal life and in the business arena. ‘Eating that Frog’ can help you to overcome procrastination and get more done in less time.
