Seth Godin is a renowned online marketing guru, blogger and author of several top selling marketing books such as Linchpin, All Marketers are Liars, Purple Cow and Tribes.

His blog is one of the most popular marketing blogs, read by millions of people worldwide.

Top Blogging Tip taken from Seth Godin:

Write short articles that are not more than 300 to 500 words.

Godin’s latest book, This is Marketing, explores what he calls “the smallest viable audience”.

“If you can find an audience of people who, if they were to care about you, if they were to embrace you, if they were to dance with you, it would be sufficient to propel you to the next step, begin there.  And if what you make and share with them is amazing, they will tell the others. And, if someone says, “I hate you. I don’t like this. It’s stupid,” you get to say, “Thank you for letting me know, and I won’t waste your time, or mine, any further.”

His theory is that it’s time to do something else with marketing. “To make things better. To cause a change you’d like to see in the world. To grow your project, sure, but mostly to serve the people you care about.”

The mistake that marketers make is  “advertising average stuff to average people”. That era has passed and today marketing boils down to “making change in the culture”.

Godin tell us to embrace the new world. “Drive the market, don’t be market driven. Do work that you’re proud of – work that matters for people who care. It’s all about connection, empathy, and making a difference.”
