A recent Workplace Learning Trends Report published by Udemy outlined the six trends that they believe will ‘define the workplace in 2021’ with the top trend listed as that which focuses on skills to assist ‘self-mastery’.
Self-mastery is often defined as self-control and includes anxiety management, resilience training and stress management – in other words self-discipline.
Udemy said that the “increased demand for productivity and mental health skills indicates that employees are adamant about mastering their minds and taking control of their time.”
If you are in a leadership or management role then you already have to manage different responsibilities when dealing with employees. This can mean that you have to engage in problem solving or conflict resolution as well as delegating work and dealing with employee issues whilst maintaining your focus.
As Mahatma Gandhi said: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
To truly master leadership you must take control of your own life.
“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”… Ghandi
You can learn to become mindfully aware of your thoughts and the intention behind them.
