What Is The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI)?
The Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) – was developed by Elias H. Porter, a clinical psychologist who worked at the University of Chicago before moving to UCLA where he spent the rest of his academic career. SDI is a powerful tool that can be used for understanding and improving relationships and managing conflict and it is often used in businesses for leadership training, team building, conflict management and a host of other applications.
SDI is not a personality test in that it does not explore our personality but it is an inventory of our behavioural strengths and underlying motivations.
People are employed by companies for their technical skills, relevant abilities and role-related experience but this is only half the story. Business performance is directly affected by people’s ability to communicate effectively, the strength of their relationships and their levels of motivation. It’s a proven fact that each of these affects work performance and productivity. Each of these aspects has a huge effect on how long we stay with a company and how well we perform.
