It doesn’t matter what your business is or what your product is, you need to have a social media marketing strategy to help grow your brand and get your name out there.

Here are some of the most compelling reasons why you need to implement a social media marketing strategy into your business:

  • Your customers will be active on social media
  • Their purchasing decisions will be influenced by social media
  • Your reputation can be enhanced or destroyed on social networks
  • Brand Recognition: making sure the brand is in front of potential buyers in case they are looking for the services or product you supply.

Use social media posts to drive traffic to your website by engaging your audience and offering them relevant content.

You should also make sure that you are up-to-date with the latest social media trends:

Video (live, recorded, and 360-degree)

This will carry on from the 2016 trend with increasing use of interactive videos. Brands that want to connect with their target audience should produce content that builds brand awareness, shares their message, and otherwise engages their customer base. 360° videos shot with personal GoPro cameras will be uploaded to networks like Facebook and Twitter whilst companies will be able to showcase their products and businesses such as hotels, restaurants or art galleries can utilise the videos for marketing purposes. Video on mobile is expected to grow in 2017, so it is essential that marketers think about mobile first.

Influencer marketing

This is the trend where people look to fellow consumers or their favourite celebrities to inform their purchasing decisions. For instance, when 50 influencers posted an Instagram picture of themselves wearing the same dress on the same day, the dress quickly sold out.

Increase in paid social media advertising

Facebook changed its algorithm this year which meant that less traffic was sent to content sites. It now prioritises posts from families and friends, rather than brands.  If you want your business page to be seen you will have to revert to paid advertising.

Chat Bots

What are bots you may ask! Essentially, chat bots are computer programs that mimic conversation with people using artificial intelligence and conversations with robots will gradually become a large part of our everyday interactions with brands.
